A party border that is drawn for this photo
This page opens the studio on Bunting: a string of triangular flags round the photo, hanging in from near the outer edge, in three colours that alternate as they go. The bottom of the frame is deeper than the sides and carries a caption between the flags and the photo — “Happy birthday” to start with, in a handwritten face — so the name or the age can go right on the picture without covering anyone's face.
Balloon dots puts a row of balloons with knots and strings round the band; Confetti scatters squares, dots and curls of streamer across it from a seed you can re-roll. All three come from the same family, so switching between them keeps your caption and your width. The motifs are spaced a whole number of times along each side — the same rule the scalloped edges use — so a flag never ends cut in half at a corner.
Making a birthday frame
- 1Open the birthday photo. It gets bunting and a “Happy birthday” caption.
- 2Type the name or age under Caption and pick a font.
- 3Press Match photo, or set each colour yourself.
- 4Save as JPG to share, or PNG at full size to print.
Limits worth seeing before export
- These are drawn, flat motifs — no photographic balloons or glitter. They print crisply but look graphic rather than real.
- A long caption needs a wider frame. The studio warns before you save if the words run past the band.
Questions about the rendered frame
How do I write the name or age on it?
Type it into Caption under Border. It is written on the bottom of the frame in one of four fonts — handwritten, serif, sans or typewriter — and never covers the photo. Raise the frame’s width if the words need more room; the studio warns before saving if they run off the band.
Can I change the colours to match the party?
Yes. Each flag, balloon or confetti colour is its own colour slot under Colour, and Match photo suggests colours taken from your picture. The ground behind the motifs is a slot too.
Is this clip art?
No. The flags, balloons and confetti are drawn shapes placed a whole number of times along each side, so they meet the corners evenly at any size. Motif spacing changes how many there are.
Which birthday frames are there?
Bunting, Balloon dots and Confetti in the Occasions family, each with a caption. The same family has a floral vine, Christmas lights, a snowflake band and a wedding set.
